Out and About
I didn't really expect selling a house to be so busy!!!! We had showings all day--from 9 am -4:30 pm. So Chase and Jakers and I went to a playground/lake/park for the morning, then shopped at a homeschool store and Ikea for the afternoon. When we got home at 6, we walked the dog and then I raked the leaves on the front lawn while Chase played with the boys out on the street. (Live oak trees shed their leaves in the spring apparently!)
Our home looks really nice now. It would be nice to be able to be home and enjoy it! Not that I should complain. I imagine it's a really good thing to have lots and lots of showings each day.
Oh....for those wonderful friends of ours who have no idea why we have the house on the market (or maybe even why we're in Texas!) here's the short version: Mark got a job down here at DNA to work on a movie. The animation on the movie is finished in May and the company has no more work (or money) for the staff. So they laided EVERYONE OFF! Mark had planned on leaving anyway--he didn't enjoy being in "leadership" and would much prefer to be "just" an animator. So his reel was ready and he was in contact with some companies even before the lay-offs. So even though he doesn't quite know which company he's going to work for in June, we know it won't be in Texas. (There are no other feature film animation studios inTexas.) So THAT'S why the house is on the market. But it's no big surprise there either. We knew coming here that it probably wouldn't be permanent, although we entertained some thoughts of staying put somewhere....It's been nice to get a bit of furniture, experience homeownership in the suburbs, and basically take a breather from the high cost of living of the coastal metroplexes. Not to mention the very long summer and very short winter.
We're all pretty excited about another move. By the grace of God, Chase enjoys the adventure of new places as well, so it makes it so much easier. It's really kind of fun to have a chance to live for a while in such diverse parts of our country--so far we've hit the Northeast/New England, the Midwest/Great Lakes, and the Southwest/okay...Texas is a country all it's own. I suppose all that is really left is the West Coast, the Northwest and the Deep South. Of course, I'm always scheming for a way to spend some time in New Zealand, or maybe Hawaii. I'd do a summer in Alaska, but NOT a winter!!!
Anyway, We have enjoyed our time in Texas, especially the lake, and some really wonderful new friends like Firestar and Wild'nWooly. But we won't miss the fire ants!
Our next adventure will likely take place in either: Glendale, CA (aka LA); San Mateo, CA (aka San Fran); or Portland, OR (aka....uh...portland?). Not sure which we'd really like best yet. I think we'll have to wait and see the opportunities and then just dive in somewhere. Each place has it's pluses and minuses.
What about you? Where would you love to live (out of our three choices), and of anywhere in the world, where would you like to live the adventure?
Love you guys.

Cool. Seafarer, ya say? I myself get a little seasick. But we are sure having fun reading about the Vikings and Early Explorers in our History studies!
