A Field Trip and a Declaration

Zoom had fun at "Take Your Kid to Work Day." He saw previews of Kung Fu Panda, learned about matte painting and had a crash course in Kung Fu. At lunch, Alex the lion, from Madagascar was there for pictures. Squeak was enamored by the huge Alex lion. She hug him and walked up and touched his paw and everything. So fun. Can't beat having a dad in the animated movie industry.

Zoom LOVES cartoon books. His current favs are Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield and Tintin. I think he can really relate to Calvin, would love to be Garfield, and finds Tintin dangerous and cool....I would also add that we've been studying the Founding of America recently. You'll see how this relates in a moment.

When we got home, Zoom zoomed into his room and began writing furiously some secret thing. A few minutes later he marched out very dramatically saying, "Announcing TinTin the messenger with The Declaration of Calvin's Independence." And he began to read.

"the Declorashan of Calvin,s independents
We or me or I am Bosste and we want to be free. We have no rites of us so we sould be let free!! L*et* us be free*:)!!"

Signed: Calvin Garfield Snoopy Tintin
Woodchck Gery Tom
Scooby Doo Clive
Cobra Stretch Pooky

Each name was in a neat column and underlined. Those brave souls declaring independence! Of course, Mama signed the declaration to avoid war, but with the warning that freedom comes with a price and the undersigned would need to be willing to pay that price. Squeak for her part, was thrilled with the pomp and circumstance and thoroughly enjoyed high-step marching around behind Chase as he paraded the document. What a cute moment. So fun.
